Why you should listen

"It would be Sammy's tap dancing night after night that would inspire my brush playing," says Cameron.

During his tenure with Sammy Davis Jr., Cameron played with Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. And, after moving to New York, he struck up a longterm friendship with Tony Bennett, and spent 15 years touring with the master. Now all those stylesstiler of rhythmrytme

Nå - alle de rytmene
01:55
are all countedtelles in fourfire
23

01:59
and then subdivideddelt by threetre.
24

og så subdividert på tre.
02:02
What?

Hvaaaa?

Yeah. ThreeTre is a magicmagi numberAntall.
26

Ja - tre er et magisk nummer.
02:08
ThreeTre is a groovin'groovin' numberAntall.
27

Tre er et tall som svinger.
02:10
ThreeTre is a hip-hopHip Hop kindsnill of numberAntall.
28
118923
3852
Tre er et hip-hop-tall.
02:14
But what does subdividingsubdividing by threetre mean?
29
122775
2429
Men hva betyr det å subdividere på tre?
02:17
And countingtelling off by fourfire?
30
125204
1817
... og å telle opp på fire?
02:19
Well, look, think of it this way.
31
127021
2347
Vel, se det på denne måten;
02:21
A measuremåle of musicmusikk as a dollardollar.
32
129368
3737
Et mål på musikk, likt en dollar.
02:25
Now a dollardollar has fourfire quarterskvartalene, right?
33
133105
5962
Så, en dollar har fire kvarter (25 cent), sant?
02:31
And so does a 4/4 measuremåle of musicmusikk.
34
139067
3856
Og det har også et 4/4 mål på musikk.
02:34
It has fourfire quarterfjerdedel notesnotater.
35
142923
3643
Den har fire kvartnoter.
02:38
Now, how do you subdividedele?
36
146566
2236
Så hvordan subdividerer du?
02:40
Now let's envisionEnvision this:
37
148802
4392
La oss se for oss dette:
02:45
threetre dollars'dollar worthverdi of quarterskvartalene.
38
153194
3753
Kvarter med en totalverdi på 3 dollar.
02:48
You would have threetre groupsgrupper of fourfire,
39
156947
4020
Da vil du ha tre grupper av 4,
02:52
and you would counttelle it,
40
160967
1577
og vi vil telle det;
02:54
a-one-two-three-foura-1-en-to-tre-fire, one-two-three-fouren-to-tre-fire,
41
162544
2012
og, EN-to-tre-fir, EN-to-tre-fir,
02:56
one-two-three-fouren-to-tre-fire. TogetherSammen.
42
164556
2027
EN-to-tre-fir - alle sammen;
02:58
All: A-one-two-three-fourA-1-en-to-tre-fire,

43
166583
3384
(Publikum: EN-to-tre-fir,

03:01
CCCC: Okay, now you feel that?
44
169967
2257
Okay, fatter dere?
03:04
Now let's take those threetre groupsgrupper of fourfire
45
172224
4960
Nå, la oss ta de tre gruppene med 4...
03:09
and make them fourfire groupsgrupper of threetre.
46
177184
4419
og gjøre de til fire grupper med 3,
03:13
And listen to this.
47
181603
1833
og hør på dette;
03:15
A-one-two-three-fourA-1-en-to-tre-fire, one-two-three-fouren-to-tre-fire,
48
183436
2055
og, EN-to-tre-FIR, en-to-TRE-fir,
en-TO-tre-fir,
03:17
one-two-three-fouren-to-tre-fire, with me.
49
185491
2142
EN-to-tre-FIR - med meg, nå;
