Everyone, please think

2000
Bonvole, ĉiu el vi pensu
00:17
of your biggest personal goal.
1
2000
3000
pri via plej grava persona celo.
00:20
For real -- you can take a second. You've got to feel this to learn it.
2
5000
3000
Vere -- vi povas preni unu sekundon. Oni devas senti tion por lerni ĝin.
00:23
Take a few seconds and think of your personal biggest goal, okay?
3
8000
3000
Prenu kelkajn sekundojn kaj pensu pri via plej granda celo, okej?
00:26
Imagine deciding right now
4
11000
2000
Imagu decidi ĝuste nun, ke
00:28
that you're going to do it.
5
13000
2000
vi estas plenumonta tion.
00:30
Imagine telling someone that you meet today what you're going to do.
6
15000
3000
Imagu rakonti al iu, kiun vi renkontis hodiaŭ, kion vi estas faronta.
00:33
Imagine their congratulations
7
18000
2000
Imagu ties gratulojn
00:35
and their high image of you.
8
20000
2000
kaj ties altan estimon pri vi.
00:37
Doesn't it feel good to say it out loud?
9
22000
2000
Ĉu ne estas agrable anonci ĝin laŭte?
00:39
Don't you feel one step closer already,
10
24000
3000
Ĉu oni ne sentas sin jam unu paŝon pli proksime,
00:42
like it's already becoming part of your identity?
11
27000
3000
kvazaŭ ĝi jam fariĝis parto de via identeco?
00:45
Well, bad news: you should have kept your mouth shut,
12
30000
3000
Nu, malbona novaĵo: vi devus teni vian buŝon fermita,
00:48
because that good feeling
13
33000
2000
ĉar tiu agrabla sento
00:50
now will make you less likely to do it.
14
35000
3000
nun igos malpli probabla vian sukceson.
00:53
Repeated psychology tests have proven
15
38000
2000
Ripetitaj psikologiaj testoj pruvis, ke
00:55
that telling someone your goal
16
40000
2000
rakonti al iu vian celon
00:57
makes it less likely to happen.
17
42000
2000
igas ĝin malpli probable.
00:59
Any time you have a goal,
18
44000
2000
Kiam vi havas celon,
01:01
there are some steps that need to be done, some work that needs to be done
19
46000
2000
kelkaj paŝoj necesas, iom da laboro,
01:03
in order to achieve it.
20
48000
2000
por atingi ĝin.
01:05
Ideally, you would not be satisfied until you had actually done the work.
21
50000
3000
Ideale, vi devus ne esti kontenta antaŭ la efektivigo de la laboro.
01:08
But when you tell someone your goal and they acknowledge it,
22
53000
3000
Sed kiam vi rakontas vian celon al iu, kiu aprobas ĝin,
01:11
psychologists have found that it's called a "social reality."
23
56000
3000
psikologoj diras, ke estiĝas tio, kion ili nomas "socia realeco".
01:14
The mind is kind of tricked into feeling that it's already done.
24
59000
3000
La menso estas kvazaŭ trompata senti, ke tio jam estas farita.
01:17
And then, because you felt that satisfaction,
25
62000
2000
Kaj tiam, ĉar vi jam sentis tiun kontenton,
01:19
you're less motivated to do
26
64000
2000
vi fariĝas malpli instigata fari
01:21
the actual hard work necessary. (Laughter)
27
66000
3000
la efektivan pezan laboron, kiu necesas. (Ridoj)
01:24
So this goes against the conventional wisdom
28
69000
2000
Do tio iras kontraŭ la konvencia saĝeco,
01:26
that we should tell our friends our goals, right --
29
71000
2000
laŭ kiu ni devus rakonti al niaj amikoj niajn celojn, ĉu? --
01:28
so they hold us to it.
30
73000
3000
por teni niajn promesojn.
01:31
So, let's look at the proof.
31
76000
2000
Nu, ni rigardu la pruvon.
01:33
1926, Kurt Lewin, founder of social psychology,
32
78000
2000
1926, Kurt Lewin, fondinto de la socia psikologio,
01:35
called this "substitution."
33
80000
2000
nomis tion "anstataŭigo".
01:37
1933, Vera Mahler found,
34
82000
2000
1933, Vera Mahler trovis, ke
01:39
when it was acknowledged by others, it felt real in the mind.
35
84000
3000
kiam io estas rekonata de aliaj, ĝi fariĝas reala en la menso.
01:42
1982, Peter Gollwitzer wrote a whole book about this
36
87000
3000
1982, Peter Gollwitzer verkis libron pri tio
01:45
and in 2009,
37
90000
2000
kaj en 2009,
01:47
he did some new tests that were published.
38
92000
2000
li faris novajn testojn kiuj estas publikigitaj.
01:49
It goes like this:
39
94000
2000
Estis pli-malpli jene:
01:51
163 people across four separate tests --
40
96000
3000
163 homoj tra kvar apartaj testoj --
01:54
everyone wrote down their personal goal.
41
99000
3000
ĉiu skribis sian personan celon.
01:57
Then half of them announced their commitment to this goal to the room,
42
102000
3000
Tiam la duono anoncis sian engaĝiĝon al la ĉambro,
02:00
and half didn't.
43
105000
2000
kaj la alia duono, ne.
02:02
Then everyone was given 45 minutes of work
44
107000
2000
Tiam ĉiu ricevis 45 minutojn da laboro
02:04
that would directly lead them towards their goal,
45
109000
3000
kiu kondukus ilin rekte al siaj respektivaj celoj,
02:07
but they were told that they could stop at any time.
46
112000
2000
sed ili estis informitaj, ke ili povus halti en kiu ajn momento.
02:09
Now, those who kept their mouths shut
47
114000
2000
Nu, tiuj, kiuj konservis siajn buŝojn fermitaj
02:11
worked the entire 45 minutes, on average,
48
116000
3000
laboris la plenajn 45 minutojn, averaĝe,
02:14
and when asked afterwards,
49
119000
2000
kaj kiam pridemanditaj poste,
02:16
said that they felt that they had a long way to go still to achieve their goal.
50
121000
3000
ili diris, ke restas longan laŭirendan vojon por atingi sian celon.
02:19
But those who had announced it
51
124000
2000
Sed tiu, kiuj anoncis la celon
02:21
quit after only 33 minutes, on average,
52
126000
3000
forlasis post nur 33 minutoj, averaĝe,
02:24
and when asked afterwards,
53
129000
2000
kaj kiam pridemanditaj poste,
02:26
said that they felt much closer to achieving their goal.
54
131000
2000
ili diris, ke ili sentis sin multe pli proksimaj al la atingo de la celo.
02:28
So, if this is true,
55
133000
2000
Do, se tio estas vera,
02:30
what can we do?
56
135000
2000
kion ni povas fari?
02:32
Well, you could resist the temptation
57
137000
2000
Bone, vi povus rezisti la tenton
02:34
to announce your goal.
58
139000
2000
anonci vian celon.
02:36
You can delay the gratification
59
141000
2000
Vi povas prokrasti la rekompencon
02:38
that the social acknowledgement brings,
60
143000
2000
kiun la socia rekono alportas
02:40
and you can understand that your mind
61
145000
2000
kaj vi povas kompreni, ke via menso
02:42
mistakes the talking for the doing.
62
147000
3000
prenas la parolon por la ago.
02:45
But if you do need to talk about something,
63
150000
2000
Sed se vi bezonas paroli pri io,
02:47
you can state it in a way
64
152000
2000
vi povas aserti ĝin laŭ maniero
02:49
that gives you no satisfaction,
65
154000
2000
kiu donas al vi nenian kontenton,
02:51
such as, "I really want to run this marathon,
66
156000
2000
kiel: "Mi vere volas kuri en tiu maratono,
02:53
so I need to train five times a week
67
158000
2000
do mi bezonas trejniĝi kvin fojojn en la semajno
02:55
and kick my ass if I don't, okay?"
68
160000
3000
kaj ŝotu mian postaĵon, se ne, ĉu bone?"
02:58
So audience, next time you're tempted to tell someone your goal,
69
163000
3000
Do, gespektantoj, la venontan fojon kiam vi sentos tenton rakonti vian celon,
03:01
what will you say? (Silence)
70
166000
2000
kion vi diros? (silento)
03:03
Exactly, well done.
71
168000
3000
Ekzakte, tre bone.
03:06
(Applause)
72
171000
4000
(Aplaŭdoj)
