ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Danit Peleg - Fashion designer
Danit Peleg created the first 3D-printed fashion collection printed entirely using home printers.

Why you should listen

Danit Peleg has always been interested in the influence of technology on fashion design. For her projects, she develops her own textiles and experiments with various technologies such as laser cutting, screen-printing and 3D printing.

Peleg believes that technology will help democratize fashion and give designers more independence in the creation process. She graduated from Shenkar in 2015 and now advises designers and fashion houses on new technologies.

They were madefatto from harddifficile plasticsplastica

Erano fatti con plastiche dure,

02:10
With 3D printingstampa, the designersprogettisti
had so much freedomla libertà
42

Con la stampa 3D,
i designers avevano così tanta libertà

LaterPiù tardi that yearanno, a friendamico gaveha dato me

In seguito, quell'anno, un'amica
mi diede una collana stampata in 3D,

47

02:32
I knewconosceva that these printersstampanti

48
147072

Sapevo che queste stampanti
erano molto più economiche

02:38
So I lookedguardato at the necklacecollana,

Quindi guardai la collana,
02:39
and then I thought, "If I can
printstampare a necklacecollana from home,
51

a poi pensai: "Se posso
stampare una collana da casa,
02:43
why not printstampare my clothesAbiti from home, too?"
52
157901
2155
allora perché non stampare
anche i miei vestiti da casa?"
02:46
I really likedè piaciuto the ideaidea that I wouldn'tno

Mi piacque molto l'idea

I could just designdesign them

55

Potevo semplicemente disegnarli

02:57
I foundtrovato a smallpiccolo makerspacemakerspace,
56

Trovai un piccolo FabLab,
02:59
where I learnedimparato everything
I know about 3D printingstampa.
57
174075
2623
dove imparai
tutto ciò che so sulla stampa 3D.
03:02
Right away, they literallyletteralmente
gaveha dato me the keychiave to the lablaboratorio,
58
177036
2595
Mi diedero subito le chiavi
del laboratorio, letteralmente;
03:05
so I could experimentsperimentare
into the night, everyogni night.
59
179655
3018
così che potessi sperimentare
la notte, ogni notte.
03:08
The mainprincipale challengesfida was to find the right
filamentfilamento for printingstampa clothesAbiti with.
60
183260
3898
La difficoltà principale fu trovare
il giusto filamento per stampare vestiti.
Ma che cos'è un filamento?
03:12
So what is a filamentfilamento?
61
187182
1156
03:13
FilamentFilamento is the materialMateriale
you feedalimentazione the printerstampante with.
62
188362
2432
Il filamento è il materiale
che alimenta la stampante.
03:16
And I spentspeso a monthmese or so
experimentingla sperimentazione with PLAPLA,
63
190818
2902
Passai circa un mese
a fare prove con il PLA,
03:19
whichquale is a harddifficile and scratchyruvido,
breakablebreakable materialMateriale.
64
193744
3161
che è un materiale
duro, ruvido e fragile.
03:23
The breakthroughsfondamento cameè venuto
when I was introducedintrodotto to FilaflexFilaflex,
65
197632
2683
La svolta venne quando mi
fu presentato il Filaflex,
03:25
whichquale is a newnuovo kindgenere of filamentfilamento.
66

che è un nuovo tipo di filamento.
03:27
It's strongforte, yetancora very flexibleflessibile.
67
201905
2340
È resistente, e tuttavia molto flessibile.
03:29
And with it, I was ablecapace to printstampare
the first garmentindumento,
68
204269
3834
Con questo fui capace
di stampare il primo indumento,
03:33
the redrosso jacketgiacca that had
the wordparola "LibertLiberté" --
69
208127
3448
la giacca rossa
che ha la scritta "Liberté" -
03:37
"freedomla libertà" in FrenchFrancese --
70
211599
1195
"libertà" in francese -
03:38
embeddedinserito into it.
71
212818
1513
inserita dentro.
03:39
I chosescelto this wordparola because I feltprovato
so empoweredpotere and freegratuito
72
214355
2793
Scelsi questa parola
perché mi sentii così potente e libera
03:42
when I could just designdesign
a garmentindumento from my home
73
217172
2303
potendo disegnare un capo da casa
03:44
and then printstampare it by myselfme stessa.
74
219499
2109
e poi stamparlo da sola.
03:47
And actuallyin realtà, you can easilyfacilmente
downloadScaricare this jacketgiacca,
75
222328
3414
In effetti, potete facilmente
scaricare questa giacca,
03:51
and easilyfacilmente changemodificare the wordparola
to something elsealtro.
76
225766
2628
e facilmente cambiare la parola
con qualcos'altro.
03:53
For exampleesempio, your namenome
or your sweetheart'sdi tesoro namenome.
77
228418
2648
Per esempio il vostro nome,
o quello della vostra dolce metà.
03:57
(LaughterRisate)
78
231507
1150
(Risate)
03:58
So the printerstampante platespiastre are smallpiccolo,
79
233040
1726
Ma i piatti delle stampanti sono piccoli,
04:00
so I had to piecepezzo the garmentindumento
togetherinsieme, just like a puzzlepuzzle.
80
234790
4078
quindi dovetti assemblare il vestito,
proprio come un puzzle.
04:05
And I wanted to solverisolvere anotherun altro challengesfida.
81
240238
2251
E volevo risolvere un'altra sfida.
04:08
I wanted to printstampare textilesprodotti tessili
82
242513
1545
Volevo stampare tessuti
04:09
that I would use
just like regularregolare fabricstessuti.
83
244082
2505
da usare come normali stoffe.
04:12
That's when I foundtrovato an open-sourceopen-source filefile
84
246611
1934
Questo quando scoprii un file open-source
04:14
from an architectarchitetto who designedprogettato
a patternmodello that I love.
85
248569
2589
di un architetto che ha disegnato
una fantasia che adoro.
04:16
And with it, I was ablecapace to printstampare
a beautifulbellissimo textiletessile
86
251182
2719
Con questa ho potuto stampare
un meraviglioso tessuto
04:19
that I would use
just like a regularregolare fabrictessuto.
87
253925
2624
che avrei usato come una normale stoffa.
04:22
And it actuallyin realtà even lookssembra
a little bitpo like lacepizzo.
88
257167
2731
In realtà, assomiglia
un po' a un pizzo.
04:26
So I tookha preso his filefile and I modifiedper volta it,
and changedcambiato it, playedgiocato with it --
89
261247
3390
Quindi presi questo file e lo modificai,
lo cambiai, ci giocai --
04:30
manymolti kindstipi of versionsversioni out of it.
90
264661
2594
tante versioni da questo.
04:33
And I needednecessaria to printstampare
anotherun altro 1,500 more hoursore
91
267654
4184
Dovetti stampare
per altre 1500 ore
04:37
to completecompletare printingstampa my collectioncollezione.
92
271862
2927
per finire di stampare la mia collezione.
04:40
So I broughtportato sixsei printersstampanti to my home
and just printedstampato 24-7.
93
274813
3808
Quindi portai sei stampanti a casa
e semplicemente stampai non stop.
04:44
And this is actuallyin realtà
a really slowlento processprocesso,
94
279176
2520
Questo è, effettivamente,
un processo davvero lento,
04:47
but let's rememberricorda the InternetInternet
was significantlyin modo significativo slowerPiù lentamente 20 yearsanni agofa,
95
281720
4343

era molto più lento 20 anni fa,
04:51
so 3D printingstampa will alsoanche accelerateaccelerare
96
