00:22
And the idea'sความคิดของ prettyน่ารัก simpleง่าย:
3
7000
2000
00:24
Teamsทีมงาน of fourสี่ have to buildสร้าง the tallestสูงที่สุด free-standingยืนฟรี structureโครงสร้าง

The marshmallowขนมหวานฟู has to be on topด้านบน.
8

00:34
And, thoughแม้ it seemsดูเหมือนว่า really simpleง่าย, it's actuallyแท้จริง prettyน่ารัก hardยาก
9
19000
3000
00:37
because it forcesกองกำลัง people
10

00:39
to collaborateร่วมมือ very quicklyอย่างรวดเร็ว.
11
24000
2000
00:41
And so, I thought this was an interestingน่าสนใจ ideaความคิด,
12
26000
2000
00:43
and I incorporatedนิติบุคคลที่จัดตั้งขึ้น it into a designออกแบบ workshopโรงงาน.
13
28000

00:59
that revealsเผยให้เห็น very deepลึก lessonsบทเรียน
20

01:01
about the natureธรรมชาติ of collaborationการร่วมมือ,
21
46000

01:03
and I'd like to shareหุ้น some of them with you.
22
48000
2000
01:05
So, normallyปกติ, mostมากที่สุด people beginเริ่ม
23
50000
3000
01:08
by orientingทิศทาง themselvesตัวเอง to the taskงาน.
24
53000
3000
01:11
They talk about it, they figureรูป out what it's going to look like,
25
56000
3000
01:14
they jockeyจ็อคกี้ for powerอำนาจ.
26
59000
2000
01:16
Then they spendใช้จ่าย some time planningการวางแผน, organizingการจัดระเบียบ,
27
61000
2000
01:18
they sketchร่าง and they layปู out spaghettiอาหารอิตาลีเส้นยาว.
28
63000
3000
01:21
They spendใช้จ่าย the majorityส่วนใหญ่ of theirของพวกเขา time
29
66000
2000
01:23
assemblingการรวบรวม the sticksแท่ง into ever-growingที่เคยเติบโต structuresโครงสร้าง.
30
68000
3000
01:26
And then finallyในที่สุด, just as they're runningวิ่ง out of time,
31
71000
3000
01:29
someoneบางคน takes out the marshmallowขนมหวานฟู,
32
74000
2000
01:31
and then they gingerlyระมัดระวัง put it on topด้านบน,
33
76000
3000
01:34
and then they standยืน back, and -- ta-daTA-da! --
34
79000
3000
01:37
they admireชม theirของพวกเขา work.
35
82000
2000
01:39
But what really happensที่เกิดขึ้น, mostมากที่สุด of the time,
36
84000
2000
01:41
is that the "ta-daTA-da" turnsผลัดกัน into an "uh-ohเอ่อโอ้,"
37
86000
3000
01:44
because the weightน้ำหนัก of the marshmallowขนมหวานฟู causesสาเหตุ the entireทั้งหมด structureโครงสร้าง
38
89000
2000
01:46
to buckleหัวเข็มขัด and to collapseล่มสลาย.
39
91000
2000
01:48
So there are a numberจำนวน of people
40
93000
2000
01:50
who have a lot more "uh-ohเอ่อโอ้" momentsช่วงเวลา than othersคนอื่น ๆ,
41
95000
3000
01:53
and amongในหมู่ the worstแย่ที่สุด are recentเมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ graduatesผู้สำเร็จการศึกษา of businessธุรกิจ schoolโรงเรียน.
42
98000
3000
01:56
(Laughter
43
101000
3000
01:59
They lieโกหก, they cheatโกง, they get distractedวอกแวก
44
104000
3000
02:02
and they produceก่อ really lameกะพร่องกะแพร่ง structuresโครงสร้าง.
45
107000
2000
02:04
And of courseหลักสูตร there are teamsทีม
46
109000
2000
02:06
that have a lot more "ta-daTA-da" structuresโครงสร้าง,
47
111000
2000
02:08
and amongในหมู่ the bestดีที่สุด are recentเมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ graduatesผู้สำเร็จการศึกษา of kindergartenโรงเรียนอนุบาล.
48
113000
3000
02:11
(Laughter
49
116000
2000
02:13
And it's prettyน่ารัก amazingน่าอัศจรรย์.
50
118000
2000
02:15
As Peterจางไป tellsบอก us,
51
120000
2000
02:17
not only do they produceก่อ the tallestสูงที่สุด structuresโครงสร้าง,
52
122000
2000
02:19
but they're the mostมากที่สุด interestingน่าสนใจ structuresโครงสร้าง of them all.
53
124000
3000
02:22
So the questionคำถาม you want to askถาม is:
54
127000
2000
02:24
How come? Why? What is it about them?
55
129000
2000
02:26
And Peterจางไป likesชอบ to say that
56
131000
2000
02:28
noneไม่มี of the kidsเด็ก spendใช้จ่าย any time
57
133000
2000
02:30
tryingพยายาม to be CEOผู้บริหารสูงสุด of Spaghettiอาหารอิตาลีเส้นยาว, IncInc. Right?
58
135000
3000
02:33
They don't spendใช้จ่าย time jockeyingเล่ห์ for powerอำนาจ.
59
138000
2000
02:35
But there's anotherอื่น reasonเหตุผล as well.
60
140000
2000
02:37
And the reasonเหตุผล is that businessธุรกิจ studentsนักเรียน are trainedผ่านการฝึกอบรม
61
142000
2000
02:39
to find the singleเดียว right planวางแผน, right?
62
144000
3000
02:42
And then they executeปฏิบัติ on it.
63
147000
2000
02:44
And then what happensที่เกิดขึ้น is, when they put the marshmallowขนมหวานฟู on the topด้านบน,
64
149000
2000
02:46
they runวิ่ง out of time and what happensที่เกิดขึ้น?
65
151000
2000
02:48
It's a crisis
66
153000
2000
02:50
Soundเสียง familiarคุ้นเคย? Right.
67
155000
3000
02:53
What kindergartenersเด็กอนุบาล do differentlyต่างกัน
68
158000
2000
02:55
is that they startเริ่มต้น with the marshmallowขนมหวานฟู,
69
160000
2000
02:57
and they buildสร้าง prototypesต้นแบบ, successiveต่อเนื่อง prototypesต้นแบบ,
70
162000
3000
03:00
always keepingการเก็บรักษา the marshmallowขนมหวานฟู on topด้านบน,
71
165000
2000
03:02
so they have multipleหลายอย่าง timesครั้ง to fixแก้ไขปัญหา when they buildสร้าง prototypesต้นแบบ alongตาม the way.
72
167000
3000
03:05
Designersนักออกแบบ recognizeรับรู้ this typeชนิด of collaborationการร่วมมือ
73
170000
3000
03:08
as the essenceแก่นแท้ of the iterativeที่กล่าวย้ำ processกระบวนการ.
74
173000
3000
03:11
And with eachแต่ละ versionรุ่น, kidsเด็ก get instantด่วน feedbackข้อเสนอแนะ
75
176000
2000
03:13
about what worksโรงงาน and what doesn't work.
76
178000
3000
03:16
So the capacityความจุ to playเล่น in prototypeแบบเดิม is really essentialสำคัญ,
77
181000
3000
03:19
but let's look at how differentต่าง teamsทีม performปฏิบัติการ.
78
184000
3000
03:22
So the averageเฉลี่ย for mostมากที่สุด people is around 20 inchesนิ้ว;
79
187000
3000
03:25
businessธุรกิจ schoolsโรงเรียน studentsนักเรียน, about halfครึ่ง of that;
80
190000
2000
03:27
lawyersทนายความ, a little better, but not much better than that,
81
192000
3000
03:30
kindergartenersเด็กอนุบาล, better than mostมากที่สุด adultsผู้ใหญ่.
82
195000
2000
03:32
Who does the very best
83
197000
2000
03:34
Architectsสถาปนิก and engineersวิศวกร, thankfullyขอบคุณ.
84
199000
3000
03:37
(Laughter
85
202000
5000
03:42
Thirty-nineสามสิบเก้า inchesนิ้ว is the tallestสูงที่สุด structureโครงสร้าง I've seenเห็น.
86
207000
3000
03:45
And why is it? Because they understandเข้าใจ trianglesสามเหลี่ยม
87
210000
3000
03:50
are the keyสำคัญ to buildingอาคาร
89
215000
2000
03:54
So CEOsซีอีโอ, a little bitบิต better than averageเฉลี่ย,
91
219000
3000
03:57
but here'sนี่คือ where it getsได้รับ interestingน่าสนใจ.
92
222000
2000
03:59
If you put you put an executiveฝ่ายบริหาร adminผู้ดูแลระบบ. on the teamทีม,
93
224000
2000
04:01
they get significantlyอย่างมีความหมาย better.
94
226000
2000
04:03
(Laughter
95
228000
2000
04:06
It's incredibleเหลือเชื่อ. You know, you look around, you go, "Oh, that team'sทีม going to winชนะ."
96
231000
2000
04:08
You can just tell beforehandล่วงหน้า. And why is that?
97
233000
2000
04:10
Because they have specialพิเศษ skillsทักษะ
98
235000
2000
04:14
They manageจัดการ the processกระบวนการ, they understandเข้าใจ the processกระบวนการ.
100
239000
2000
04:16
And any teamทีม who managesการบริหารจัดการ
101
241000
2000
04:18
and paysจ่าย closeปิด attentionความสนใจ to work
102
243000
3000
04:21
will significantlyอย่างมีความหมาย improveปรับปรุง the team'sทีม performanceประสิทธิภาพ.
103
246000
3000
04:27
are the combinationการรวมกัน that leadsโอกาสในการขาย to strongแข็งแรง successความสำเร็จ.
105
252000
3000
04:30
If you have 10 teamsทีม that typicallyเป็นปกติ performปฏิบัติการ,
106
255000
2000
04:32
you'llคุณจะ get maybe sixหก or so that have standingจุดยืน structuresโครงสร้าง.
107
257000
2000
04:34
And I triedพยายาม something interestingน่าสนใจ.
108
259000
2000
04:36
I thought, let's up the anteante, once
109
261000
3000
04:39
So I offeredที่นำเสนอ a 10,000 dollarดอลลาร์ prizeรางวัล of softwareซอฟต์แวร์ to the winningการชนะ teamทีม.
110
264000
3000
04:42
So what do you think happenedที่เกิดขึ้น to these designออกแบบ studentsนักเรียน?
111
267000
3000
04:45
What was the result
112
270000
2000
04:48
Here'sต่อไปนี้คือ what happenedที่เกิดขึ้น:
113
273000
2000
04:50
Not one teamทีม had a standingจุดยืน structureโครงสร้าง.
114
275000
3000
04:54
If anyoneใคร ๆ had builtสร้างขึ้น, say, a one inchนิ้ว structureโครงสร้าง,
115
279000
3000
04:57
they would have takenยึด home the prizeรางวัล.
116
282000
2000
04:59
So, isn't that interestingน่าสนใจ? That highสูง stakesเงินเดิมพัน
117
284000
2000
05:01
have a strongแข็งแรง impactส่งผลกระทบ.
118
286000
2000
05:03
We did the exerciseการออกกำลังกาย again with the sameเหมือนกัน studentsนักเรียน.
119
288000
2000
05:05
What do you think happenedที่เกิดขึ้น then?
120
290000
2000
05:07
So now they understandเข้าใจ the valueความคุ้มค่า of prototypingการสร้างต้นแบบ.
121
292000
3000
05:13
So the sameเหมือนกัน teamทีม wentไป from beingกำลัง the very worstแย่ที่สุด
122
298000
2000
05:15
to beingกำลัง amongในหมู่ the very bestดีที่สุด.
123
300000
2000
05:17
They producedผลิต the tallestสูงที่สุด structuresโครงสร้าง in the leastน้อยที่สุด amountจำนวน of time.
124
302000
3000
05:20
So there's deepลึก lessonsบทเรียน for us
125
305000
2000
05:22
about the natureธรรมชาติ of incentivesแรงจูงใจ and successความสำเร็จ.
126
307000
3000
