ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Alwar Balasubramaniam - Artist
Sculptor, painter and printmaker Alwar Balasubramaniam makes work that crosses the boundary between art, perception and life.

Why you should listen

Alwar Balasubramaniam's work aches to express the overlooked, the invisible, the inexpressible. Quiet white sculptural forms, hung on a wall, unlock philosophical questions as one watches the light pass over them. What is their form, and what is their shadow? What are those mysterious white hands reaching for, around the corner and through the wall?

Trained in painting and printmaking, Balasubramaniam has been experimenting with a range of materials (fiberglass, wax, gold) to create sculptural works that bring forth his ideas and his search process. His work is often very tactile, very physical, but it symbolizes an exploration of big questions: what defines the self? what confines us? how do light and shadow shape our view of the world?

01:30
"Oh, he's badrău at studiesstudiu,

La unul din aceste concursuri
01:44
I just woncastigat a smallmic, little transistortranzistor PhilipsPhilips radioradio.

01:51
So I just switchedcomutate on in the traintren, loudlytare.
37
96000

Aşa că i-am dat drumul în tren, tare.
01:53
If you travelvoiaj in IndianIndian trainstrenuri,
38
98000

Când călătoreşti în trenurile indiene,
01:55
you can see people listeningascultare to radioradio
39
100000

poţi vedea oameni care ascultă radio
01:57
and, you know, even from theiral lor mobilestelefoane mobile.
40
102000

chiar de la telefoanele mobile.
01:59
So at that time -- and I was 13 --
41
104000
2000
Deci pe vremea aceea -- aveam 13 ani --
02:01
and I was listeningascultare to just radioradio,

02:08
You know, like just adjacentadiacent to me.
45
113000

Ştiţi, chiar adiacent cu mine.
02:10
He just starteda început askingcer, "Where did you buya cumpara the radioradio? How much is it?"
46
115000
3000
A început să întrebe: "De unde ai cumpărat radioul? Cât costă?"
02:13
I said, "It's a prizepremiu from [an] artartă competitioncompetiție."
47
118000
3000
02:16
And he said, "Oh, I teacha preda at a collegecolegiu of artsarte.
48
121000
3000
El a răspuns: "Oh, eu predau la un colegiu de arte;
02:19
I think
49
124000

cred
02:21
you should studystudiu in a schoolşcoală of artartă.
50
126000
2000
02:23
You just quitpărăsi schoolşcoală and come there."
51
128000
2000
Abandonează şcoala, şi vino acolo."
02:25
So, why I'm tellingspune you this,
52
130000
2000
De ce vă spun asta,
02:27
you know, maybe, you know,
53
132000
2000
ştiţi, poate că
02:29
whoeveroricine is sittingședință nextUrmător → to you can changeSchimbare your wholeîntreg life -- it's possibleposibil.
54
134000
3000

02:32
It is that we need we need to be opendeschis and fine-tunedfin reglate.
55
137000
3000
Trebuie să fim deschişi şi receptivi.
02:36
So that's what madefăcut me enterintroduce
56
141000
3000
02:39
[the] collegecolegiu of artsarte after threeTrei attemptsîncercări
57
144000
3000
la colegiul de arte după trei încercări
02:42
and just continuecontinua to inquireîntreba
58
147000
3000
şi să continuu să mă întreb
02:45
what I really want to do with artartă work, or artartă
59
150000
3000
02:48
and finallyin sfarsit I'm here in frontfață of you.
60
153000
2000
iar acum, sunt aici în faţa dumneavoastră.
02:50
When I look back, you know,
61
155000
2000
Când privesc înapoi
02:52
on what happeneds-a întâmplat betweenîntre that time
62
157000
2000
la ce s-a întâmplat de atunci
02:54
and now here --
63
159000
3000
şi până acum,
02:57
the last 10/15 yearsani --
64
162000
2000
în ultimii 10-15 ani,
02:59
I can see that mostcel mai of the workslucrări
65
164000
2000
pot vedea că majoritatea lucrărilor
03:01
revolvegravitează around threeTrei subjectssubiecți,
66
166000
3000
se învârt în jurul a trei subiecte,
03:04
but it was not intentionalintenționat.
67
169000
2000
deşi nu neapărat intenţionat.
03:06
And I just startstart out with a traceurmă because I was thinkinggândire,
68
171000
2000
03:08
"What really makesmărci us?" -- you know,
69
173000
2000
"Ce ne reprezintă pe noi cu adevărat?" -- ştiţi,
03:10
it's actuallyde fapt [the] pasttrecut, what makesmărci a personpersoană.
70
175000
3000
03:14
So I was thinkinggândire,
71
179000
2000
Şi mă gândeam,
03:16
but when you look at the pasttrecut,
72
181000
2000
că atunci când te uiţi la trecut,
03:18
the way to understanda intelege the pasttrecut
73
183000
2000
modul de a înţelege trecutul
03:20
is only by the tracesurme availabledisponibil,
74
185000
2000
e doar prin intermediul urmelor lăsate,
03:22
because we cannotnu poti go back [to] the pasttrecut.
75
187000
2000
03:24
It can be ruinsruinele, or it can be musicmuzică,
76
189000
2000
Urmele pot fi ruine, pot fi muzică,
03:26
or it can be paintingpictură or drawingdesen or writingscris, whateverindiferent de it is.
77
191000
3000
03:29
But it is just a kinddrăguț of traceurmă of that time.
78
194000
3000
03:34
And that fascinatedfascinat me,
79
199000
2000
Şi asta m-a fasciant,
03:36
to exploreexplora that territoryteritoriu.
80
201000
3000
să explorez acea sferă.
03:40
So I was workinglucru on the linelinia,
81
205000
3000
Lucram la linia cronologică,
03:43
but insteadin schimb of workinglucru about tracesurme,
82
208000
4000
03:47
I starteda început capturingcapturarea tracesurme.
83
212000
3000
am început să le capturez.
03:50
So here are some of the workslucrări I would like to showspectacol you.
84
215000
3000
03:53
So this is calleddenumit "SelfAuto In ProgressProgresul."
85
218000
3000
Aceasta se numeşte "Sine în evoluţie".
03:56
It's just a traceurmă of beingfiind in this bodycorp.
86
221000
3000
03:59
So here, what happeneds-a întâmplat then,
87
224000
2000
Ce s-a întâmplat apoi,
04:01
you know -- what I really enjoyedsa bucurat the mostcel mai
88
226000
2000
ce mi-a plăcut cel mai mult
04:03
is that this sculpturesculptură
89
228000
2000
e că această sculptură
04:05
is nothing but a traceurmă of myselfeu insumi.
90
230000
3000
nu e nimic mai mult decât o urmă a mea.
04:09
It's almostaproape like a 3D photographfotografie.
91
234000
2000
E aproape ca o fotografie 3D.
04:11
So there is an elementelement of performanceperformanţă,
92
236000
2000
Există un element de spectacol,
04:13
and there is an elementelement of sculpturesculptură,
93
238000
2000
şi un element de sculptură,
04:15
and there is an elementelement of feelingsentiment one'sunul e selfde sine, so closeînchide to one'sunul e selfde sine.
94
240000
3000
04:18
So it's almostaproape like fossilsfosile for the futureviitor.
95
243000
3000
E aproape ca o fosilă pentru viitor.
04:21
And then movedmutat slowlyîncet
96
246000
2000
M-am deplasat apoi încet
04:23
to exploreexplora the other possibilitiesposibilităţi of capturingcapturarea tracesurme.
97
248000
3000
spre explorarea altor posibilităţi de a captura urme.
04:29
So this is what I was talkingvorbind about, while moldingturnare,
98
254000
3000
04:32
it's suchastfel de a great experienceexperienţă,
99
257000
2000
este o experienţă extraordinară,
04:34
because we have freedomlibertate of like walkingmers,
100
259000
2000
pentru că avem libertatea de-a umbla,
04:36
or movingin miscare my handmână or, movingin miscare around in the spacespaţiu,
101
261000
3000
04:39
but the momentmoment this becomesdevine solidsolid,
102
264000
3000
04:42
when you cannotnu poti movemișcare even an inchinch,
103
267000
3000
04:45
because this is plasterghips of ParisParis, so the momentmoment you pourturna it it's like liquidlichid;
104
270000
3000
04:48
but after 20 minutesminute, it's almostaproape like a hardgreu stonepiatră.
105
273000
3000
04:52
So this is capturingcapturarea the traceurmă of a thumbprintamprenta
106
277000
4000
Aceasta este capturarea amprentei unui deget,
04:56
because, knowinglycu bună ştiinţă or unknowinglynecunoştinţă de cauză,
107
281000
2000
pentru că, cu bună ştiinţă sau nu,
04:58
whateverindiferent de we do, you know, we leavepărăsi our tracesurme here.
108
283000
3000
orice am face, ne lăsăm urmele aici.
05:01
So I just thought, "I'm going to capturecaptură
109
286000
3000
Aşa că m-am gândit, voi captura
05:04
thumbprintamprenta, footprinturmă,
110
289000
2000
urme de degete, urme de picioare,
05:06
or whateverindiferent de tracesurme we leavepărăsi as humansoameni."
111
291000
3000
sau orice urme lăsăm ca oameni.
05:09
This is the traceurmă of firefoc,
112
294000
3000
Aceasta este urma focului.
05:12
this is the traceurmă of sunsoare.
113
297000
3000
Aceasta este urma soarelui.
05:15
Because when I was capturingcapturarea tracesurme, you know,
114
300000
2000
Atunci când capturez urme,
05:17
this thought comesvine to me always:
115
302000
3000
05:20
is it, only when the objectobiect touchesatinge the thing and it leavesfrunze the traceurmă,
116
305000
3000
"obiectul îşi lasă urma doar când atinge ceva,
05:23
or is there other waysmoduri to capturecaptură it?"
117
308000
2000
05:25
So this work is nothing but like --
118
310000
2000
Această lucrare nu e nimic, dar --
05:27
because of the focalfocale lengthlungime of the lensobiectiv,
119
312000
2000
din cauza distanţei focale a lentilelor,
05:29
it just showsspectacole what is on the other sidelatură.
120
314000
3000
arată doar ce e pe cealaltă parte.
05:33
So I just put the paperhârtie on the focalfocale lengthlungime,
121
318000
2000
Aşa că am pus hârtia la distanţa focală,
05:35
whichcare was an etchinggravură printimprimare,
122
320000
2000
care era o tipăritură în relief,
05:37
then I got the portraitportret of [the] sunsoare from sunlightlumina soarelui.
123
322000
3000
05:41
This is calleddenumit "DawnDawn to DawnDawn."
124
326000
2000
05:43
What I did here, I just put like 10 feetpicioare [of] paperhârtie
125
328000
3000
05:46
then put a coconutnucă de cocos ropefrânghie,
126
331000
2000
apoi am pus o frânghie de cocos,
05:48
and just burntars it.
127
333000
2000
şi i-am dat foc.
05:50
So it tooka luat about 24 hoursore to get this linelinia.
128
335000
2000
05:52
So whereveroriunde the firefoc is eatingmâncare the paperhârtie,
129
337000
2000
Oriunde focul înghite din hârtie,
05:54
that's what becomesdevine the work --
130
339000
2000
acesta e rezultatul.
05:56
detaildetaliu.
131
341000

So, what we see

3000
Deci, ceea ce vedem

is just what we think oftende multe ori,
181
466000

e adesea doar ceea ce gândim,
08:04
and mostcel mai of the time, we don't see what it is.

You know, I could just showspectacol you this little piecebucată of paperhârtie.

08:16
Because I always think meaningsens doesn't really existexista.
186
481000

The meaningsens of what we createcrea in this worldlume doesn't existexista.

08:23
It's just createdcreată by the mindminte.
188

3000

If you look at this piecebucată of paperhârtie,

Aşa am fost învăţaţi în şcoală.
08:37
But if you tearrupere it in the middlemijloc --
193
502000
3000
Dar dacă o rupi pe mijloc...
08:40
now, I didn't touchatingere this breadthLatime,
194
505000
2000
Acum, eu nu am atins această lăţime,
08:42
but still, the meaningsens of this changesschimbări.
195
507000

şi totuşi, înţelesul acesteia se schimbă.
08:44
So what we conceiveconcepe as a meaningsens
196
509000
2000
Deci ceea ce percepem ca înţeles
08:46
is always not there;
197
511000
2000
nu e întotdeauna acolo;
08:48
it's on the other sidelatură,
198
513000
2000
este pe cealaltă parte,
08:50
even when we say darkîntuneric, lightușoară,
199
515000
2000
chiar atunci când spunem întuneric, lumină,

good, badrău, tallînalt, shortmic de statura --
200
517000

bine, rău, înalt, scund --
08:54
all meaningsens it doesn't existexista in realityrealitate.
201
519000
3000
nicio semnificaţie nu există în realitate.
08:57
It's just that beingfiind a humanuman,
202
522000
2000
Doar ca fiinţe umane,
08:59
the way we traintren to perceivepercep the realityrealitate
203
524000
3000
09:02
createscreează this meaningsens.
204
527000
2000
crează această semnificaţie.
09:04
So this work from this periodperioadă

Această lucrare din această perioadă
09:06
is mostlyMai ales like --

2000
Aşa, după câteva luni.
11:51
It's just all about questioningîntrebător the preconceptionsidei preconcepute.
269
696000
3000
Totul se referă la contestarea preconcepţiilor.
11:54
So if someonecineva saysspune, "Oh, I see the portraitportret,"
270
699000
3000
Dacă cineva spune: "Oh, văd portretul",
11:57
it mayMai not be the portraitportret after a fewpuțini monthsluni.
271
702000
2000
11:59
And if they say it's solidsolid,
272
704000
2000
Iar dacă spun că e solid,
12:01
it will not be solidsolid, it will evaporatese evaporă.
273
706000
3000
12:04
And if they say they don't get it,
274
709000
2000
Şi dacă spun că nu-l percep,
12:06
that's alsode asemenea not trueAdevărat,
275
711000
2000
nici asta nu e adevărat,
12:08
because it's in the airaer.
276
713000
2000
pentru că se află în aer.
12:10
It's in the samela fel galleryGalerie or in the samela fel museummuzeu.
277
715000
2000
12:12
So they inhaledinhalate it,
278
717000
2000
Aşa că îl inhalează,
12:14
but they are not awareconștient of it.
279
719000
3000
dar nu sunt conştienţi de asta.
12:17
While I was doing that work,
280
722000
2000
În timp ce făceam această lucrare,
12:19
my mommama and my dadtata,
281
724000
2000
mama şi tatăl meu
12:21
they were looking at it and they said,
282
726000

se uitau la ea şi au zis:
12:23
"Why do you dealafacere with negativenegativ subjectssubiecți all the time?"
283
728000
3000
"De ce abordezi întotdeauna subiecte negative?"
12:26
And I was like, "What do you mean?"
284
731000
2000
I-am întrebat: "La ce vă referiţi?"
12:28
"LightLumina makesmărci darkîntuneric and now evaporatingcondensare selfde sine.
285
733000
3000
"Lumina creează întuneric şi acum sinele care se evaporă.
12:31
Don't you think it remaineda ramas something about deathmoarte," they said.
286
736000
3000
12:34
"Of coursecurs not. For me," I'm thinkinggândire,
287
739000
2000
"Bineînţeles că nu. Pentru mine," mă gândesc,
12:36
"this is tuckedascuns in some smallmic solidsolid,
288
741000
2000
"acum e ascuns într-un solid mic,
12:38
but the momentmoment it evaporatesse evaporă,
289
743000

12:40
it's mergedfuzionat with the wholeîntreg."
290
745000
2000

12:42
But she said, "No. Still, I don't like it.
291
747000
2000
Dar ea a răspuns: "Nu. Totuşi, nu-mi place.
12:44
Can you make something from nothing
292
749000
2000
Poţi crea ceva din nimic,
12:46
as a sculptorsculptorul?"
293
751000
2000
ca sculptor?"
12:48
I said, "No, mommama. It can't be.
294
753000
2000
Am spus, "Nu, mamă. Nu se poate.
12:50
Because we can createcrea
295
755000
3000
Pentru că putem crea
12:53
a sculpturesculptură
296
758000
2000
o sculptură
12:55
by gatheringadunare dustpraf togetherîmpreună,
297
760000

12:57
or we can breakpauză the sculpturesculptură and get the dustpraf,
298
762000
3000
13:00
but there is nowherenicăieri that we can bringaduce dustpraf into the universeunivers."
299
765000
3000
13:03
So, I did this work for her.
300
768000
3000
13:06
It's calleddenumit "EmergingÎn curs de dezvoltare AngelAngel."
301
771000
2000
Se numeşte "Înger ivindu-se".
13:08
This is the first day --
302
773000
2000
Aceasta este prima zi.
13:10
it just gives the appearanceaspect
303
775000
2000
Dă impresia
13:12
that one is becomingdevenire the other.
304
777000
2000
că unul devine celălalt.
13:14
So, the samela fel sculpturesculptură
305
779000
2000
Aceeaşi sculptură
13:16
after a fewpuțini dayszi.
306
781000
2000
după câteva zile.
13:20
This is after 15/20 dayszi.
307
785000
3000
Aceasta este după 15, 20 de zile.
13:23
ThroughPrin that smallmic little slitfantă
308
788000
2000
Prin acea fantă mică
13:25
betweenîntre the glasssticlă boxcutie and the woodlemn,
309
790000
2000
dintre cutia de sticlă şi lemn,
13:27
the airaer goesmerge underneathdedesubt the sculpturesculptură and createscreează the other one.
310
792000
3000
13:30
This gavea dat me a greatermai mare faithcredinţă.
311
795000
2000
Asta mi-a dat şi mai multă încredere.
13:32
That evaporatingcondensare sculpturesculptură gavea dat me a greatermai mare faithcredinţă
312
797000
3000
13:35
that maybe there is manymulți more possibilitiesposibilităţi
313
800000
2000
că poate sunt mult mai multe posibilităţi
13:37
to capturecaptură [the] invisibleinvizibil.
314
802000
2000
de a captura invizibilul.
13:39
So what you see now
315
804000
2000
Ce vedeţi acum
13:41
is calleddenumit "ShadowUmbra ForeshadowPrefigura."
316
806000
3000
se numeşte "Prezicerea umbrelor".
13:44
And what I'd like to tell you
317
809000
2000
Ce aş dori să vă spun
13:46
is we don't see shadowumbra, and we don't see lightușoară too;
318
811000
3000
13:49
we see the sourcesursă of the lightușoară.
319
814000
2000
Vedem sursa luminii.
13:51
We see where it's bouncingviguros, but we don't see [them] as they existexista.
320
816000
3000
13:54
You know, that's why the night skycer, we see the skycer as darkîntuneric,
321
819000
3000
De-asta vedem cerul nopţii ca fiind întunecat,
13:57
but it's filledumplut with lightușoară all the time.
322
822000
2000
dar e plin de lumină tot timpul.
13:59
When it's bouncedreturnate on the moonlună, we see it.
323
824000
2000
14:01
The samela fel thing in the darkroomCameră obscură.
324
826000
2000
Acelaşi lucru în camera obscură.
14:03
The little dustpraf particleparticulă will again, reflectReflectați the lightușoară,
325
828000
3000
Micile particule de praf vor reflecta lumina,
14:06
and we realizerealiza the existenceexistenţă of lightușoară.
326
831000
2000
14:08
So we don't see darkîntuneric, we don't see lightușoară,
327
833000
3000
Deci nu vedem întunericul, nu vedem lumina,
14:11
we don't see gravitygravitatie, we don't see electricityelectricitate.
328
836000
3000
nu vedem gravitaţia, nu vedem electricitatea.
14:14
So, I just starteda început doing this work
329
839000
3000
Tocmai am început să fac această lucrare
14:17
to inquireîntreba furthermai departe
330
842000
3000
pentru a cerceta mai în profunzime
14:20
about how to sculptsculpta
331
845000
2000
cum să sculptez
14:22
the spacespaţiu betweenîntre this objectobiect and there.
332
847000
3000
14:25
Because, as a visualvizual artistartist, if I'm seeingvedere this and I'm seeingvedere that --
333
850000
3000
14:28
but how to sculptsculpta this, you know?
334
853000
3000
şi totuşi, cum sculptez spaţiul dintre două puncte?
14:31
If we sculptsculpta this, this has two referencereferinţă pointspuncte.
335
856000
3000
Dacă sculptăm spaţiul, acesta are două puncte de referinţă.
14:34
The skinpiele of this is alsode asemenea representingreprezentând this.
336
859000
3000
14:37
And skinpiele at the other endSfârşit alsode asemenea representsreprezintă the floorpodea.
337
862000
3000
14:40
I did this as an experimentexperiment
338
865000
3000
Am făcut asta ca un experiment
14:43
of castingturnare the shadowumbra.
339
868000
2000
de propagare a umbrei,
14:45
So this is a corrugatedondulat boxcutie and its shadowumbra.
340
870000
3000
Aceasta e o cutie desfăcută şi umbra ei.
14:48
Then the secondal doilea one --
341
873000
2000
Apoi a doua --
14:50
the momentmoment you bringaduce any invisibleinvizibil into the visiblevizibil worldlume
342
875000
3000
14:53
it will have all the characteristicscaracteristici of the visiblevizibil existenceexistenţă.
343
878000
3000
el va avea toate caracteristicile existenţei vizibile.
14:56
So that producedprodus a shadowumbra.
344
881000
2000
Cutia a produs o umbră.
14:58
Then I thought, okay, let me sculptsculpta that.
345
883000
2000
15:00
Then, again, that becomesdevine an objectobiect.
346
885000
2000
Apoi, din nou, umbra devine un obiect.
15:02
Again, throwingaruncare lightușoară, then the thirdal treilea one.
347
887000
3000
Iarăşi, aruncând lumină. Apoi cea de-a treia.
15:05
So what you see is nothing but shadowumbra
348
890000
2000
15:07
of a shadowumbra of a shadowumbra.
349
892000
2000
unei umbre unei umbre.
15:09
And then again, at that pointpunct, there is no shadowumbra.
350
894000
3000
15:12
I thought, "Oh, good. Work is finishedterminat."
351
897000
3000
M-am gândit, "Oh, bine. Lucrarea e terminată."
15:16
You can see the detaildetaliu.
352
901000
2000
Aici vedeţi un detaliu.
15:22
This is calleddenumit "GravityGravitatea."
353
907000
2000
Aceasta se numeşte "Gravitaţie".
15:29
It's calleddenumit "BreathRespiraţia." It's just two holesgăuri on the galleryGalerie wallperete.
354
914000
3000
Aceasta se numeşte "Respiraţie". Sunt doar două găuri în peretele galeriei.
15:32
It's a falsefals wallperete, whichcare containsconține
355
917000
2000
Este un perete fals, care conţine
15:34
like 110 cubiccubi feetpicioare.
356
919000
2000
cam trei metri cubi.
15:36
So that holegaură actuallyde fapt
357
921000
2000
Acea gaură de fapt
15:38
makesmărci the airaer come out and go in.
358
923000
3000
face aerul să iasă şi să intre.
15:41
So where it's happeninglucru, we can see,
359
926000
2000
Putem vedea unde se întâmplă,
15:43
but what is happeninglucru will remainrămâne invisibleinvizibil only.
360
928000
2000
15:45
This is from the showspectacol calleddenumit "InvisibleInvizibil," at TalwarTurlea GalleryGalerie.
361
930000
3000
15:48
This is calleddenumit "KaayamKaayam."
362
933000
2000
Aceasta se numeşte "Kaayam."
15:50
DetailDetaliu.
363
935000
2000
Detaliu.
15:55
And what I'd like to tell you,
364
940000
3000
Ce aş vrea să vă spun,
15:58
our sensessimțurile are so limitedlimitat --
365
943000
2000
că simţurile noastre sunt atât de limitate,
16:00
we cannotnu poti hearauzi everything, we cannotnu poti see everything.
366
945000
2000
nu putem auzi tot, nu putem vedea tot.
16:02
We don't feel, "I am touchingemoționant the airaer,"
367
947000
2000
Nu simţim: "Ating aerul",
16:04
but if the breezebriza is a little more fastermai repede, then I can feel it.
368
949000
3000
16:08
So all of our constructionconstructie of realityrealitate
369
953000
3000
Deci întreaga noastră reprezentare a realităţii
16:11
is throughprin these limitedlimitat sensessimțurile.
370
956000
2000
e obţinută prin aceste simţuri limitate.
16:13
So my recourserecurs was like,
371
958000
2000
Întrebarea mea a fost,
16:15
is there any way to use all this
372
960000
2000
16:17
as just a symbolsimbol or a signsemn?
373
962000
3000
16:21
And to really get to the pointpunct,
374
966000
2000
16:23
we should movemișcare beyonddincolo, you know,
375
968000
2000
trebuie să trecem dincolo de el,
16:25
go to the other sidelatură of the wallperete, like in logiclogică,
376
970000
2000
16:27
like are invisibleinvizibil.
377
972000
2000
să capturăm invizibilul.
16:29
Because when we see someonecineva walksplimbări, we see the footprinturmă.
378
974000
2000
16:31
But if we're just cuttingtăiere that footprinturmă from the wholeîntreg thing and tryingîncercat to analyzea analiza it,
379
976000
3000
16:34
you will missdomnișoară the pointpunct
380
979000
2000
vom pierde estenţialul,
16:36
because the actualreal journeycălătorie happensse întâmplă betweenîntre those footprintsurme de pasi,
381
981000
3000
pentru că adevărata călătorie are loc între acele urme,

and the footprintsurme de pasi are nothing but passingtrecere time.
