00:32
as makingनिर्माण meaningअर्थ from soundध्वनि.
7
17000
2000
00:34
It's a mentalमानसिक processप्रक्रिया,
8
19000
2000
00:36
and it's a processप्रक्रिया of extractionनिष्कर्षण.
9
21000
2000
00:38
We use some prettyसुंदर coolठंडा techniquesतकनीक to do this.
10
23000
2000
00:40
One of them is patternपैटर्न recognitionमान्यता.
11
25000
2000
00:42
(Crowdभीड़ Noiseशोर) So in a cocktailकॉकटेल partyपार्टी like this,
12
27000
3000
00:45
if I say, "Davidडेविड, Saraसारा, payवेतन attentionध्यान,"
13
30000
2000
00:47
some of you just satबैठ गया up.

00:49
We recognizeपहचानना patternsपैटर्न

00:51
to distinguishअंतर करना noiseशोर from signalसंकेत,

00:53
and especiallyख़ास तौर पर our nameनाम.
17
38000
2000
00:55
DifferencingDifferencing is anotherएक और techniqueतकनीक we use.
18
40000
2000
00:57
If I left this pinkगुलाबी noiseशोर on for more than a coupleयुगल of minutesमिनट,
19
42000
3000
01:00
you would literallyसचमुच ceaseसंघर्ष to hearसुनो it.
20
45000
2000
01:02
We listen to differences
21
47000
2000
01:04
we discountछूट soundsआवाज़ that remainरहना the sameवही.
22
49000
3000
01:07
And then there is a wholeपूरा का पूरा rangeरेंज of filtersफिल्टर.
23
52000
3000
01:10
These filtersफिल्टर take us from all soundध्वनि
24
55000
3000
01:13
down to what we payवेतन attentionध्यान to.
25
58000
2000
01:15
Mostसबसे people are entirelyपूरी तरह से unconsciousबेहोश
26
60000
2000
01:17
of these filtersफिल्टर.
27
62000
2000
01:19
But they actuallyवास्तव में createसर्जन करना our realityवास्तविकता in a way,
28
64000
3000
01:22
because they tell us what we're payingका भुगतान attentionध्यान to right now.
29
67000
3000
01:25
Give you one exampleउदाहरण of that:
30
70000
2000
01:27
Intentionइरादा is very importantजरूरी in soundध्वनि, in listeningसुनना.
31
72000
3000
01:30
When I marriedशादी हो ग my wifeपत्नी,
32
75000
2000
01:32
I promisedवादा किया था her that I would listen to her everyप्रत्येक day
33
77000
2000
01:34
as if for the first time.
34
79000
2000
01:36
Now that's something I fallगिरना shortकम of on a dailyरोज basisआधार.
35
81000
3000
01:39
(Laughter
36
84000
2000
01:41
But it's a great intentionइरादा to have in a relationshipसंबंध.
37
86000
3000
01:44
But that's not all.
38
89000
2000
01:46
Soundध्वनि placesस्थानों us in spaceअंतरिक्ष and in time.
39
91000
3000
01:49
If you closeबंद करे your eyesआंखें right now in this roomकक्ष,

45
105000

02:03
And soundध्वनि placesस्थानों us in time as well,
46
108000
3000
02:06
because soundध्वनि always has
47
111000
2000
02:08
time embeddedएम्बेडेड in it.
48
113000
2000
02:10
In factतथ्य, I would suggestसुझाना that our listeningसुनना is the mainमुख्य way
49
115000
2000
02:12
that we experienceअनुभव the flowबहे of time
50
117000
2000
02:14

So, "Sonorityध्वंयात्मकता is time and meaningअर्थ" -- a great quoteउद्धरण.
52

02:18
I said at the beginningशुरू, we're losingहार our listeningसुनना.
53

3000
02:21
Why did I say that?
54
126000
2000
02:23
Well there are a lot of reasonsकारणों for this.
55
128000
2000
02:25
First of all, we inventedआविष्कार waysतरीके of recordingरिकॉर्डिंग --
