So, ladies女士们 and gentlemen绅士, at TEDTED

2000
00:17
we talk a lot about leadership领导 and how to make a movement运动.
1
2000
3000
00:20
So let's watch a movement运动 happen发生, start开始 to finish, in under three minutes分钟
2
5000
3000
00:23
and dissect解剖 some lessons教训 from it.
3
8000
3000
00:26
First, of course课程 you know, a leader领导 needs需求 the guts胆量
4
11000
2000
00:28
to stand out and be ridiculed.
5
13000
3000
00:32
But what he's doing is so easy简单 to follow跟随.
6
17000
2000
00:34
So here's这里的 his first follower信徒 with a crucial关键 role角色;
7
19000
3000
00:37
he's going to show显示 everyone大家 else其他 how to follow跟随.
8
22000
2000
00:39
Now, notice注意 that the leader领导 embraces拥抱 him as an equal等于.
9
24000
2000
00:41
So, now it's not about the leader领导 anymore;
10
26000
2000
所以,现在谁是领导人不再重要;
00:43
it's about them, plural复数.
11
28000
2000
00:45
Now, there he is calling调用 to his friends朋友.
12
30000
2000
00:47
Now, if you notice注意 that the first follower信徒
13
32000
2000
00:49
is actually其实 an underestimated低估 form形成 of leadership领导 in itself本身.
14
34000
4000
00:53
It takes guts胆量 to stand out like that.
15
38000
2000
00:55
The first follower信徒 is what transforms变换
16
40000
3000
00:58
a lone孤单 nut坚果 into a leader领导.
17
43000
2000
01:00
(Laughter
18
45000
2000
01:02
(Applause
19
47000
3000
01:05
And here comes a second第二 follower信徒.
20
50000
2000
01:07
Now it's not a lone孤单 nut坚果, it's not two nuts坚果 --
21
52000
2000
01:09
three is a crowd人群, and a crowd人群 is news新闻.
22
54000
3000
01:12
So a movement运动 must必须 be public上市.
23
57000
2000
01:14
It's important重要 to show显示 not just to show显示 the leader领导, but the followers追随者,
24
59000
3000
01:17
because you find that new followers追随者
25
62000
2000
01:19
emulate仿真 the followers追随者, not the leader领导.
26
64000
3000
01:22
Now, here come two more people, and immediately立即 after,
27
67000
2000
01:24
three more people.
28
69000
2000
01:26
Now we've我们已经 got momentum动量. This is the tipping小费 point.
29
71000
2000
01:28
Now we've我们已经 got a movement运动.
30
73000
3000
01:32
So, notice注意 that, as more people join加入 in,
31
77000
2000
01:34
it's less risky有风险.
32
79000
2000
01:36
So those that were sitting坐在 on the fence篱笆 before, now have no reason原因 not to.
33
81000
3000
01:39
They won't惯于 stand out,
34
84000
2000
01:41
they won't惯于 be ridiculed,
35
86000
2000
01:43
but they will be part部分 of the in-crowd在人群中 if they hurry匆忙.
36
88000
2000
01:45
(Laughter
37
90000
3000
01:48
So, over the next下一个 minute分钟,
38
93000
2000
01:50
you'll你会 see all of those that prefer比较喜欢 to stick with the crowd人群
39
95000
2000
01:52
because eventually终于 they would be ridiculed
40
97000
2000
01:54
for not joining加盟 in.
41
99000
2000
01:56
And that's how you make a movement运动.
42
101000
2000
01:58
But let's recap概括 some lessons教训 from this.
43
103000
2000
02:00
So first, if you are the type类型,
44
105000
3000
02:03
like the shirtless赤膊上阵 dancing跳舞 guy that is standing常设 alone单独,
45
108000
3000
02:06
remember记得 the importance重要性 of nurturing培育
46
111000
2000
02:08
your first few少数 followers追随者 as equals等于
47
113000
2000
02:10
so it's clearly明确地 about the movement运动, not you.
48
115000
3000
02:13
Okay, but we might威力 have missed错过 the real真实 lesson here.
49
118000
3000
02:16
The biggest最大 lesson, if you noticed注意到 --
50
121000
2000
02:18
did you catch抓住 it? -- is that leadership领导
51
123000
2000
02:20
is over-glorified过荣耀.
52
125000
2000
02:22
That, yes, it was the shirtless赤膊上阵 guy who was first,
53
127000
2000
02:24
and he'll地狱 get all the credit信用,
54
129000
2000
02:26
but it was really the first follower信徒
55
131000
2000
02:28
that transformed改造 the lone孤单 nut坚果 into a leader领导.
56
133000
3000
02:31
So, as we're told that we should all be leaders
57
136000
2000
02:33
that would be really ineffective不灵.
58
138000
2000
02:35
If you really care关心 about starting开始 a movement运动,
59
140000
2000
02:37
have the courage勇气 to follow跟随
60
142000
2000
02:39
and show显示 others其他 how to follow跟随.
61
144000
2000
02:41
And when you find a lone孤单 nut坚果 doing something great,
62
146000
2000
02:43
have the guts胆量 to be the first one
63
148000
2000
02:45
to stand up and join加入 in.
64
150000
2000
02:47
And what a perfect完善 place地点 to do that, at TEDTED.
65
152000
2000
02:49
Thanks
66
154000
2000
02:51
(Applause
